Startup Weekend 2014: an HEC Montréal student among the winners

February 17, 2014

BBA student Félix Carrier was part of the second-place team at the Startup Weekend held from February 7 to 9 at HEC Montréal.

All in all, 130 people took part in the event, as 17 teams raced to create their startups in 54 hours and present them to a jury of well-known judges, including Antoine Azar of CEO Mobilogie, Stéphane Gagné of Google Québec, Alexander Lynn of Sid Lee Technologies, David Nault of iNovia Capita and Ian Jeffrey of Real Ventures.

The startup created by Félix Carrier, along with Marie-Pascale Giroux, Sébastien Gougeon, Othman Isaad, Gregory Laporte, Mathieu Laroussi, Jérôme Soucy, Felix Vaillancourt and Keven Villeneuve, is called Park Here. It is an intelligent, secure mobile application for private parking, connecting drivers looking for a parking spot with homeowners who have one available, and includes an integrated payment system. As silver medalists they received $10,000 in legal services from Fasken Martineau.

First place went to Snowtification, a website and application that uses geolocation to text clients a few minutes before their snow-plowing contractor arrives. In third place was GymFlex, a website that resells gym memberships and offers loyalty points.

Congratulations to all the participants!
