2014 Financial Open Cup: first place for HEC Montréal

For the third straight year, the delegation of HEC Montréal Bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA) students took first place overall in the Financial Open Cup, held at the School on February 1 this year. All in all, over 300 students from 10 member institutions of the Students' Association of Management Faculties of Eastern Canada (RÉFAEC) went head to head in this interuniversity competition for students specializing in finance and accounting. 

The Financial Open Cup, first held in 2005, consists of six accounting and finance case competitions (Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Market Finance, Corporate Finance, Taxation and Personal Financial Planning), in addition to a stock market simulation and a quiz.

Our sincere congratulations to the HEC Montréal delegation, headed by the Competition Committee and mentored by Vincent Lévesque, for this excellent showing: Nikolas Asselin, Jasmyn Beauséjour, Akram Bencherif, Mehdi Bennani, Jonathan Brun, Alexandre Buissières, Antoine Camus, Ludovic Coderre, Simon Cousineau, Guillaume Gaudet-Rivard, Antoine Gélinas, Érika Scott Giasson, Gabriel Grenier, Adrienne Lamarre, Charles Le, Océane Le Naourès, Marc-Antoine Miron, Vincent Nicolet Grégoire, Jérémie Plourde-Perreault, Jessica Proulx Jeanson, Oren Reich, Marc Saba, Roxane St-Pierre-Lussier, Sophie Tremblay Sabatini and Maude Simard.

They were supported by four volunteers from the School – Laurence Beaulieu, Mathilde Bonnet, Catherine Despaties and Valérie Grenier-Paquette – and co-ordinator Edmond Vlandis. The delegation wishes to thank Philippe Caron, Mathieu Charest, Chloé Fortin, René Gendreau, Mathieu Joubert, Jacques Lemay and Joyce Van Ranst Melo for the hours they spent training the teams.
