Strategic partnership to measure entrepreneurial activity in Quebec

October 24, 2013

The Fondation de l’entrepreneurship and HEC Montréal have announced a strategic partnership to share their strengths in measuring entrepreneurial activity, as part of the Indice entrepreneurial québécois 2014. The partnership, to be deployed through the new National Bank | HEC Montréal Observatoire de l'Institut d'entrepreneuriat, also includes the creation of the Base de données de l’entrepreneuriat québécois, a Quebec entrepreneurship database compiled from all previous editions of the Fondation’s index.

“We are proud to join forces with such a dynamic and highly regarded institution as HEC Montréal in our work on the Indice entrepreneurial québécois,” said Alain Aubut, President and Executive Director of the Fondation. “The launch of this new database on Quebec entrepreneurship will also allow the Fondation and researchers at HEC Montréal to conduct more in-depth research into entrepreneurship in Quebec and, we hope, shed further light on trends and phenomena in this regard.”

“We are very pleased to forge this partnership with the Fondation de l’entrepreneurship,” agreed Luis Cisneros, Professor with the Department of Management at HEC Montréal and Director of the National Bank | HEC Montréal Institut d'entrepreneuriat. “This collaboration will allow us to not only strengthen our natural ties with entrepreneurs, but also publish new data thanks to the complementary expertise between our two organizations.”

The Indice entrepreneurial québécois is one of the Fondation’s key initiatives, published annually for the past five years in co-operation with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the Léger Marketing polling firm. Starting in mid-April, the Fondation and the Caisse will be hitting the road again in Quebec with the 2014 version of the index. The theme for next year’s edition is young entrepreneurs. The Fondation will be adding panels of young entrepreneurs and relying more on social media as it looks at what interests young Quebeckers in terms of entrepreneurship.
