Jacques Nantel Appointed to the Conseil supérieur de l'éducation

Jacques Nantel is now a member of the Commission de l’enseignement et de la recherche universitaires, part of the Conseil supérieur de l’éducation du Québec. The appointment of the Secretary General of HEC Montréal to this position was announced on September 2 by Nicole Boutin, President of the Conseil. Another 20 new members of the Conseil’s five commissions were announced at the same time.

The Conseil supérieur de l'éducation advises the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports on education-related issues. Its volunteer members, drawn from different fields of education, are closely involved in preparing the Council’s recommendations.

Jacques Nantel holds a DBA (Marketing) from Indiana University and has served as Secretary General of HEC Montréal since 2007. He began teaching at the School in 1980 and was promoted to Full Professor with the Department of Marketing in 1994. Over the course of his career he has held a number of senior positions at HEC Montréal, including Director of the Department of Marketing, Director of Academic Programs, holder of the Omer DeSerres Chair of Retailing and founder and first holder of the RBC Financial Group Chair of E-Commerce. He has received a number of distinctions, including the HEC Montréal Grand Prize for Teaching Excellence in 1994, the Leadership in Management Education award from the National Post in 2000, and the Personality of the Year award from the Association marketing de Montréal in 2002. In 2006, the Université de Montréal recognized him as a “distinguished graduate.”
