First series of 2009-2010 scholarships

Over $200,000 awarded to some one hundred students

November 20, 2009

The first series of scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year was awarded today. For the first time, the ceremony was in the form of a breakfast meeting bringing donors and recipients together around the same tables.

Thirty donors – businesses, organizations, foundations and individuals – awarded more than 100 scholarships totalling $202,750, to recognize and support student excellence in all programs.

And this is only the start, since the School plans to hand out more than $1.5 million this year. In spring 2010, three other series of awards will be given out: more scholarships, but also bursaries for students on the HEC Montréal honour roll and for studies abroad.

HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry emphasized the indispensable support by donors in the School’s efforts to attract top students and keep HEC Montréal one of the leading business schools on the international scene.

The ceremony, interspersed with videos, closed with a “lip dub” clip starring nearly 200 students singing and dancing to show their pride in HEC Montréal.

Congratulations to the scholarship recipients, and thanks to our generous donors!
