Excellent results on the 2008 UFE: Xavier Richard, Canadian Gold Medal Winner

December 5, 2008

HEC Montréal offers its heartfelt congratulations to Xavier Richard, who achieved the highest standing in Canada on the 2008 Uniform Evaluation (UFE) administered by the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec / Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). This remarkable performance earned him the Governor General’s gold medal and the $5,000 cash prize from the Chartered Accountants of Canada.

Four other alumni of the HEC Montréal Graduate Certificate in Public Accountancy program are also on the Canadian honour roll, along with Xavier. This means that five of the nine Quebec candidates on the Canadian honour roll are from HEC Montréal. They are:

The pass rate for HEC Montréal candidates was 76.3% for the first attempt, as compared with 70.5% for Quebec as a whole. The School's pass rate was 72.2% if all attempts are included, compared with the Quebec and Canadian pass rates of 66.4% and 71.7% for all attempts.

This year, 186 candidates (first attempt) out of 617 in Quebec were from HEC Montréal, or 30.1%. This is the eighth straight year in which the School has presented over 100 candidates; it truly stands out for its training of chartered accountants both in Quebec and among all Canadian schools.

The School warmly congratulates all its alumni who performed so brilliantly on the 2008 Uniform Final Examination.
