Partnership with the Ordre des CGA du Québec
June 2, 2008
HEC Montréal is pleased to announce a $250,000 partnership agreement with the Ordre des CGA du Québec, to encourage and promote research in the field of professional accounting. The partnership will be in the form of a Professorship in Strategic Financial Information – CGA, granted to Claude Francoeur, Associate Professor with the Department of Accounting Studies.
This will allow Professor Francoeur to more actively pursue his research into the themes covered in the CGA training program, including governance, ethics, quality of financial information, international standards and financial performance.
As HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry noted, “this generous contribution by the Ordre des CGA du Québec will allow the School to strengthen its leadership in accounting research. We are also pleased that this professorship will have tangible benefits for the teaching and practice of accounting.”
The Ordre des CGA du Québec, which is turning 100 this year, works to promote CGA expertise and position it as central to business strategies. “CGAs receive complete, rigorous and constantly evolving training. Through this partnership, the Order is looking to further advance the teaching of the profession, by fostering research and innovation in areas that characterize CGA expertise,” emphasizes Danielle Blanchard, President and CEO of the Ordre des CGA du Québec.
