Who we are

HEC Montréal’s International programs has been offering management education programs to individuals and businesses and collaborating with institutes of higher learning around the world for over 40 years.

Our strategy

Through the different types of programs offered, International programs plays a fundamental role in the international prestige and global presence of HEC Montréal. Thanks to our training programs, thousands of executives around the world have had the opportunity to hone their business skills and management practices.

Our know-how

Developed in close collaboration with our partners, our programs are designed to stimulate reflection, innovation and action in participants facing local and global contexts that are more demanding than ever. The broad range of expertise of HEC Montreal’s faculty gives participants access to a variety of sectors and themes, including energy, healthcare, transportation, media, sustainable development, innovation, entrepreneurship, family businesses, multilateral organizations, etc.

Our training programs are rooted in a participatory teaching approach that combines practice and theory and incorporates a variety of active learning methodologies such as case studies, simulations, role-playing, etc. Through our “e-learning” component, we offer an innovative and flexible mode of delivery blending in-class and distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous).

Our experienced administrative team oversees the quality of training and ensures the full satisfaction of corporate and institutional partners throughout each step of the development and implementation of our programs.

Our expertise in the energy sector

HEC Montréal has been offering management training in the energy sector since the late 1980s, including graduate programs in management and specialized programs designed specifically for executives in the energy sector in collaboration with numerous Canadian, foreign and international companies in the oil, gas and electricity industry.   

Our history

  • 1975 - 2003 : HEC Montréal begins its international expansion with the creation of the Centre d’études en administration internationale (CETAI), a centre combining teaching and research with international development activities.
  • 2003 : The School decides to entrust CETAI’s teaching component to the Department of International Business. A new structure, International projects, is created with the exclusive aim of overseeing HEC Montréal’s international activities.
  • 2009 : International programs is established following the transfer of all campuses abroad offered to students to the Department of International Business
  • 2016 : International activities and student mobility is created by merging the teams of International programs and the International exchange program.
