Simon Dermarkar teaches accounting and assurance courses in the Department of Accounting at HEC Montréal. He is also a part-time consultant, advising individuals and small businesses on accounting matters and preparing financial statements and tax returns. For the past few years, he has been interested in data culture and the impact of new technology on his chosen profession. He has published papers and case studies on a variety of aspects of the digital transformation of accounting. Additionally, with funding from CPA Canada and the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, he has launched a research project looking specifically at the digital revolution and its impact on the accounting field. Dr. Dermarkar has also developed a 40-hour course for HEC Montréal entitled Audit et mégadonnées (MATH60925) as part of the MSc (Accounting–Control–Audit) program.
