General information: CFA® preparation courses


Application Procedures

  • Click on the “Register Today” button in the online course description to complete the online application form and send it to us as quickly as possible.
  • You will receive an email confirmation that your form has been received. An official invoice will follow by mail.

Receipt of your payment will confirm registration.


Fees and Payment

  • $1,500 + taxes
  • $1,350 + taxes – HEC Montréal alumni (within three years of graduation) or current HEC Montréal students (please provide diploma or transcript)

Fees must be paid in full prior to the start of the program and do not include the price of learning materials for personal study. Fees are payable by credit card or cheque (made out to “HEC Montréal”). Sorry, no debit cards. On-site parking is extra.

Payment Terms

Participants from outside Canada are required to pay the full amount by credit card upon registration.


Study Materials

Participants in the program may purchase the materials developed by Wiley for Levels I, II and III at a special price for the “Essential Self Study Package”.

Educational materials are not compulsory.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

To cancel their registration, participants must provide verbal notice, which must be followed by confirmation in writing. Please direct any such messages to the program coordinator, using the contact information found in the online course description. The following penalties will be applied for cancellations received:

  • As of 4 p.m. on the Friday prior to the third class: 100% of the total registration fee
  • After the first class: 25% of the total registration fee.

We reserve the right to cancel any program, in which case our liability will be limited to refunding registration fees paid to us.



All classes will take place at HEC Montréal, 3000 Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road, Montreal, from 6:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., unless otherwise indicated. The Executive Education HEC Montréal offices are located in the northeast wing (third floor) of the building (Room 3.133). Once you have registered, you will receive a letter confirming the room number for your class, which will be on the first or third floor.

What are the prerequisites for CFA® Preparation Courses at Executive Education HEC Montréal?

You must be registered or planning to register for the CFA® exams. Please make sure you meet the CFA Institute’s entrance requirements.


Who are the instructors?

Each of the topics will be taught by an experienced instructor. The team consists of financial professionals and HEC Montréal faculty members.


Will attending the classes be enough to prepare me for the CFA® exams?

No. You will need to set aside several hours of study time after each class. According to the CFA Institute, candidates who pass the exams usually put in about 300 hours of study.



Are these courses recognized as eligible training activities under Quebec’s workforce skills development legislation?

Your investments in the programs offered by Executive Education HEC Montréal are eligible for recognition under the Act to Promote Workforce Skills Development and Recognition.

Are the facilities at HEC Montréal accessible to persons with disabilities?

Do I need my laptop?

If a course requires the use of a laptop, you will be notified by email to bring it.


Is there Wi-Fi access on site for my personal use?

Program participants have access to Executive Education HEC Montréal’s Wi-Fi network, located in the northeast wing of the third floor.


Are you equipped to meet special dietary requirements?

Yes. Please indicate your needs in the “Dietary Restrictions” section of the application form.

Note that there are no meals included in the CFA® and PRM™ preparation courses.
