CDL-Montréal’s 2023–2024 cohort hits the ground running

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL-Montréal), a mentorship program to support and promote massively scalable, seed-stage tech startups, kicked off its seventh year on October 12th.

The program is highly selective and highly competitive. Of the more than 300 candidates, only 57 were picked to take part. These entrepreneurs will receive the following support over the course of the nine-month program:

  • World-class mentorship, including advice from CDL’s scientists, who are world-renowned experts from leading academic institutions.
  • Intensive full-day sessions every eight weeks to assess progress.
  • Opportunities to raise capital through the CDL network, which includes angel investors and leading venture capital firms.
  • Business development support from top students in HEC Montréal’s MBA program.

Another first for the Hélène-Desmarais Building

For the first time in CDL-Montréal’s history, the first intensive full-day session of the program took place at HEC Montréal’s new Hélène Desmarais Building, located in the heart of the city’s business district. At this session, mentors provided guidance to startup founders and helped them set short-term objectives.

Participants enjoyed the new building’s state-of-the-art facilities and were pleased to have the opportunity to network in such a beautiful and welcoming space.

“With our new stream, CDL-Montréal is one of the first programs specifically catering to Web3 companies in the province of Quebec that are looking to leverage web decentralization and blockchain. Montreal is a global hub for video game production and a pole of excellence for the financial industry, two fields ripe to be transformed with the recent advancement in blockchain technologies.”

Julien Billot, Chief Executive Officer, CDL-Montréal and Next AI

The Government of Quebec recently renewed CDL’s funding to the tune of $2.4 million, which will allow the program to continue playing a vital role in the incubation and success of tech businesses specializing in AI. Since its founding, CDL has created over $2.7 billion in equity value as well as thousands of jobs.
