Graduation

Convocation

A convocation is held each year (on a different date). At this graduation ceremony, you will receive an official letter of congratulations for having successfully completed your program of studies.

Diploma Issuance Process

File Analysis

Each administrative office analyzes student files when all grades have been calculated for the term in question.

  • Fall term: late February
  • Winter term: early July
  • Summer term: late August

You are not required to provide any documents before your diploma or microprogram certificate can be issued.

Processing Times

Proof of graduation letter

You will receive your proof of graduation letter in HEC en ligne if you meet all the graduation requirements and your file has been analyzed. You will then receive an email from your program’s administrative office, and the term in which you earned your degree will appear on your transcripts.

Diploma and attestation

You will receive your diploma or attestation about six months after completing your studies, at the mailing address in your HEC en ligne account. In the meantime, you may request a proof of graduation letter.

Duplicate diploma

How to Obtain a Duplicate diploma

You must complete the Duplicate Diploma Form and then sign it in the presence of a commissioner for oaths. After that, you must mail it or bring it in person to the Zone Info, along with a certified cheque or money order payable to HEC Montréal (see the Administrative fees section).

You will receive your duplicate diploma within six weeks.

Outside Canada

You can request a legalization of the signature or an authentification of the document.

Confirmation of graduation

HEC Montréal’s Registrar’s Office can only send a confirmation of graduation to an employer or employment agency.

Only the following information can be confirmed:

  • the name of the program from which you graduated
  • the name of the degree obtained (if applicable)
  • the date that you graduated.

Submit a request

All requests must be submitted by the employer or employment agency to confirmation-diplome@hec.ca.

Pursuant to the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, the request must include:

  • the name of the organization that wishes to receive the confirmation of graduation
  • the name and contact information of the contact person at the organization
  • the first and last name of the person who graduated
  • the name of the program from which the person graduated and the date on which they graduated
  • a document signed by the person who graduated wherein they consent to HEC Montréal sending a confirmation of graduation to the requesting organization.

The request processing time is 3 business days.
