Commercialization vehicles

There are several different vehicles available to facilitate the commercial development of innovations stemming from research.

eValorix.com

This is a transactional platform for the commercialization of innovations in digital form developed by university researchers. This initiative by our partner Univalor is a priority for HEC Montréal.

Licenses

Commercial operating licenses for a technology are awarded to existing companies in exchange for royalties.

Spin-off companies

New companies are created to commercialize a technology. The revenue-sharing model for the institution and inventors is based on the commercial success of the enterprise.

Patents

A patent is a title that confers upon the patent holder the right to prevent third parties from using the patented invention for commercial purposes for a limited amount of time as of a specific date. Patents are only valid within a specific territory.
