Admission Criteria
Which scenario applies to you? Choose from among the options presented in the following table.

Prerequisites	Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Undergraduate degree in another field A degree deemed equivalent by the program director	A four-year university degree deemed equivalent In exceptional cases, a candidate who has graduated from a three-year university program with outstanding grades and achieved excellent scores on the GMAT or TAGE-MAGE may be considered, subject to certain conditions. Minimum GPA	A minimum of 2.7 on 4.3, or the minimum GPA for admission to the graduate programs at the student’s university of origin.	At least 12 out of 20 for all completed years of university studies combined.
Languages	Sufficient knowledge of both English and French	Sufficient knowledge of both English and French
Required language test	For those who have never studied in French, the Test de français international (TFI). A score of at least 750 on the TFI is required for admission.	For those who have never studied in French, the Test de français international (TFI). A score of at least 750 on the TFI is required for admission.

Note: Admissions are based on the strength of applications. However, as there is a cap on the number of students admitted to the program, not all eligible applicants can be accepted.

Supporting Documentation

M.Sc. (excluding the M.S.E.C.)

Application fees	$CA78. These fees are non-refundable and may change at any time.
School record	originals of all official, complete and detailed transcripts, or copies certified by the school(s) in question¹; photocopy of your degrees attesting to your previous university studies¹; list of courses currently being taken but which do not appear on the transcript (point out the name of the school and the term in question for each course).
Others documents	proof of your professional titles (order, association, etc.), if applicable; two letters of recommendation.
Tests	Official results obtained. Only results from tests taken somewhere other than HEC Montréal must be sent to us directly from the organization that gave them.
	Aptitude tests	GMAT or TAGE-MAGE or GRE
	French test	TFI (required of candidates who have not studied in French)
Additional questions	Please answer on a separate page. Each response must be typed and must not exceed one page.
	Selected program of studies : Specify the professional and intellectual concerns that are motivating you to do an M.Sc. Also explain your choice of option. Career plan : What kind of job do you expect to have once you have earned your M.Sc. (type of company that interests you, the position you would like to have, nature of your responsibilities, etc.)? Research theme (thesis stream only) : Briefly describe your theme or research interests.

Status in Canada
Your status define your tuition fees and your admission to a tuition fee exemption, if applicable. If we do not receive the proof of your status, international fees will be charged. Please note that photocopies will be accepted.
Canadian citizen born in Quebec	birth certificate with your place of birh, and your father’s and mother’s full names
Canadian citizen born outside Quebec	birth certificate with your place of birh, and your father’s and mother’s full names attestation of residency in Quebec : please send one of the listed documents
Canadian citizen born outside Canada	birth certificate with your place of birh, and your father’s and mother’s full names both sides of your Canadian citizenship card attestation of residency in Quebec : please send one of the listed documents
Permanent resident	birth certificate with your place of birh, and your father’s and mother’s full names both sides of your permanent resident card or your IMM-1000 or IMM-5292 immigration form attestation of residency in Quebec : please send one of the listed documents
International students	When applying	After the offer of admission
	birth certificate with your place of birh, and your father’s and mother’s full names French citizens must add : valid passeport of the French republic or valid national identity card of the French republic	Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), delivered by Immigration-Québec Student permit, delivered by Immigration Canada

Sending documents

Deadline : five (5) days after your application for admission
For any document not drafted in French or English, an official translation certified by :
the consulate or embassy of your country of origin or
a member of Ordre des traducteurs du Québec (OTTIAQ)
All documents submitted become the property of HEC Montréal and will not be returned to the candidate.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
No confirmation will be gave concerning the receipt of the documents.

Outcome of the analysis by post : four (4) to six (6) weeks after the admission deadline. For the Ph.D. program, the waiting time can be up to 10 weeks.
