Gurjeet WaryaStudent | It has been five months into the Intensive-MBA program at HEC, and I already feel that I made the right decision regarding my career transition, for which this program is helping me to acquire the necessary foundation tools. A dedicated faculty consisting of most updated and innovative professionals with a passion for imparting managerial skills and techniques, along with a talented and diverse cohort make it a well-rounded experience. I have learnt infinitely more by working in different teams spanning cultures, ages, backgrounds and motivations, having my assumptions challenged constantly. It has been a life enriching experience at HEC Montreal, and I have no doubt that the program will assist me in building upon the pragmatic leadership experience gained in my previous jobs and prepare me for participating in ever increasing positive leadership positions in management.
Today, I am more conscious of ethics based management and critical principles of environmental and social responsibility for businesses.

The HEC Montréal MBA was an intense year that was tremendously exciting in both personal and professional terms. My MBA not only opened the door to a new career, but also let me develop lasting bonds with brilliant graduates from a variety of professional backgrounds and different countries, acquire valuable management and business skills and know-how, and broaden my horizons and understanding of international business. The Campus Abroad course in China was a unique experience. Having the chance to talk with different people doing business in China gave me a much better picture of the complexity of that country, the business opportunities it offers and the everyday challenges facing entrepreneurs and managers there. It also helped demystify the Chinese business culture and prepared me to work in that environment if the opportunity arises. The Campus Abroad experience was a way to put a face on the theory we studied in our different international business courses.

| After four years of hard work, long evenings spent at the School, short nights and weekends filled with work, readings and case studies, I finished my MBA three weeks ago. I am so relieved, happy and proud! I wanted to thank you most sincerely for your support over the four years. I would especially like to emphasize the quality and diversity of the teaching experience, as the “MBA in Action” format gave me a chance to combine classroom learning and practice. It made it much easier for me to integrate the Quebec labour market and Quebec society in general. Next I would like to thank all the staff at Career Management Services (which I used frequently), who helped me more clearly define my professional goals. I was originally thinking that my MBA would allow me to improve and move up professionally, but I realized that it offers much more. It gave me all kinds of unsuspected opportunities and continues to do so. Lastly, I now feel that I am better prepared to take on the challenges of greater responsibility. I feel that I can still grow, of course, but that I have gained exceptional tools that will help me make a difference. Much more than all the new knowledge that I can draw on to meet these challenges, I now have a clearer view, a new way of looking at things, in both my professional and personal lives. Thank you for all this, from the bottom of my heart. I came to HEC to become a better professional, and I think I am leaving a better person. That’s really what makes the HEC difference!

My very first week at the MBA was the shock I was looking forward to. The learning curve is steep but there is no looking back – the least I can say is that I have found my place here at HEC Montréal. The MBA provides me with the opportunity to put what I learn in class to good use through my role as the President of the MBA Student Association, which I manage with a team of 12 highly-motivated partners. As such, I have the privilege of serving a strongly-united community of students from 34 different countries. Aside from seeking opportunities for my fellow MBA candidates to put their skills and expertise to good use, I find great pride in leading our crew to new heights, inviting all to act as stewards, bringing their inner fire to supporting undergraduate and graduate students involved in ambitious projects such as TEDxHECMontréal. If you ever find yourself wondering if this is the right place for you, make sure you come and meet with us, you will always find an open door at the AEMBA during lunch hours and during Thursday happy hours. To all a warm welcome! | Jean-Michel Beaudoin2012-2013 Student |
Dr. Seuss said it best: Oh, the places you’ll go! At this very moment, there are endless opportunities that stand before you. As an international passport to the world, the MBA is a highly regarded degree that will open doors and create lifelong connections. To maximize your MBA experience at HEC Montreal, as former students of the program, we cannot stress enough the importance of networking. Connect with your fellow classmates, professors, administrators, alumni, friends and anyone who might be willing to help you with your career development. Attend school events, as well as others in your local community. Meet as many people as you can. Be genuine, sincere, and helpful.
Also, think about the added value you want to get out of the program, the skills you want to develop and the knowledge you want to acquire. You have a wide range of tools and resources available to help you. Get involved, choose your classes wisely, meet with your teachers, use the career management services - they are all there for you. You will get out of this program what you will have chosen to invest in it.
The MBA will probably be one of the most enriching experiences you will ever undertake. Congratulations on choosing HEC Montreal, a culturally and academically diverse institution in a vibrant, cosmopolitan city. We wish you all the best during your studies and, most of all, we hope you will maximize your MBA experience at HEC Montreal!

My main motivation to integrate an MBA program was its international dimension. HEC Montreal’s MBA program has met all my expectations. For instance, I have been working for the past 10 weeks in a small team of five people from 5 different nationalities: French, Chinese, Lebanese, Canadian and Colombian. In my opinion there is no better way to develop a global vision of the business and to enrich my experience with people that have so distinct profiles and personalities. At the same time, my integration into the Montreal community seemed very easy to. Montreal is a cosmopolitan city, a melting pot where it is not uncommon in the same party to meet people from three different continents. My family and I have easily found our place in this city and we hope to settle there for several years after the end of the program in September 2013.
