To be eligible for the MBA program, candidates must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with an average deemed satisfactory. Studies completed under an international system and which are equivalent to a bachelor’s degree must total at least 16 years of studies, unless agreed otherwise. Learn more about bachelor’s degree.
- Have at least three years of post-graduation work experience. Candidates must attach to their application a curriculum vitae summarizing the various positions they have held. Applicants are encouraged to highlight any outstanding achievements of which they feel the admissions committee should be made aware.
- Take one of the following aptitude tests (before the deadline)
- Candidates who have never completed a program of study in English must take one of the following English language tests:
- HEC Montréal’s Test of Proficiency in English (HECTOPE)
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Candidates will also be judged on the following criteria:
- Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must come from an employer attesting to the candidate’s performance in the workplace in which he or she acquired experience.
- Answers to the essay questions on the application form. Candidates are encouraged to take the time to consider each question carefully, as the responses are an opportunity for candidates to tell the admissions committee more about themselves and their motivations for pursuing an MBA. The responses will be used to ascertain candidates’ expectations and determine whether their career objectives are compatible with those of the program.

MBA
| School record | - originals of all official, complete and detailed transcripts, or copies certified by the school(s) in question1;
- photocopy of your degrees attesting to your previous university studies1;
- list of courses currently being taken but which do not appear on the transcript (point out the name of the school and the term in question for each course).

Sending documents
- Deadline: five (5) days after your application for admission
- For any document not drafted in French or English, an official translation certified by:
- the consulate or embassy of your country of origin or
- a member of Ordre des traducteurs du Québec (OTTIAQ)
- All documents submitted become the property of HEC Montréal and will not be returned to the candidate.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- No confirmation will be given concerning the receipt of the documents.
Outcome of the analysis by post: four (4) to six (6) weeks after the admission deadline. For the Ph.D. program, the waiting time can be up to 10 weeks.
| Online transmission | To accelerate the process of your admission file, an electronic copy of the official transcripts must be sent together with your application at DocumentsEnLigne@hec.ca. However, submission of the original or certified copies of the transcripts is required if your receive an offer of acceptance from HEC Montréal. If you apply online, you should send all your documents by answering the acknowledge receipt of HEC Montréal (do not create a new email). IMPORTANT: please use a resolution of between 100 and 300 dpi. |
