Professor, HEC Montréal

While work is good for our mental health and helps give meaning to our lives, it can also cause a great deal of stress. Stress is not inherently a positive or negative thing: its effect on us is determined by the emotions it evokes. To feel good about yourself and be happy at work, it is important to learn to manage stress by knowing how to take a step back, adopting a healthy lifestyle and indulging yourself from time to time. In this seminar, you will learn a number of skills, including how to:

  • identify stress and its causes;
  • recognize the symptoms of stress and the factors that provoke it;
  • stay healthy by boosting your resilience and your ability to deal with stress;
  • determine whether you or someone you know is at risk of a burnout, and learn the best ways to help them or yourself.
