Over $500,000 in research scholarships for 31 MSc students

A total of 31 Master’s students at HEC Montréal received research scholarships valued at more than $500,000 from federal and provincial granting agencies during the 2016–2017 academic year.

They were all selected by juries of research experts, based on the exceptional quality of their academic records and their research potential.

Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships (SSHRC)

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) awarded 10 scholarships of $17,500 each to HEC Montréal MSc students in the thesis track.

Last year the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) awarded a $17,600 scholarship to an HEC Montréal MSc student in the thesis track.

Last year the Fonds de recherche du Québec société et culture (FRQSC) awarded scholarships worth $15,000 annually, renewable for up to 6 consecutive terms, to 2 HEC Montréal MSc students in the thesis track.

Mitacs Accelerate scholarships

Mitacs Accelerate is Canada’s most extensive research internship program. It allows graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and university professors to extend the scope of their research by teaming up with private companies.

Accelerate scholarships vary from $10,000 to $15,000 per internship (4 to 6 months).

Last year, 18 HEC Montréal students were awarded these scholarships.
