Campus Montréal exceeds its objective and raises $581 M

April 13, 2017

The important Campus Montréal fundraising campaign has attracted donations of $581 million, surpassing its $500 million target.

The excellent news was announced this morning by the heads of the three institutions involved: Guy Breton (Université de Montréal), Christophe Guy (Polytechnique Montréal) and Michel Patry (HEC Montréal). They were joined by John Parisella and Michael Sabia, respectively Executive Director and Co-Chair of the campaign, Hélène David, Minister responsible for Higher Education, and Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montreal.

HEC Montréal Director Michel Patry pointed out at the announcement that philanthropy often serves as a catalyst for promising projects. “For instance, it was Campus Montréal that lit the spark leading to the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO),” he emphasized. “Today, such global internet giants as Google and Microsoft are taking an interest in the Institute’s work.”

Note that the funds raised during this tripartite campaign will go directly to supporting large-scale projects in four fields: research, scholarships, infrastructure and campus environment.
