Entrepreneurship and innovation: two new publications from Louis Jacques Filion

Professor Louis Jacques Filion (Entrepreneurship and Innovation), a prolific author, has just come out with two books on business growth.

The first, La croissance d’entreprise : vision, agilité et doigté, presents six inspiring case studies on SMEs of different sizes, operating in different industries. The author uses the words of the business owners themselves to tell the story of each of these SMEs, considered innovative leaders in their respective fields. In the introduction, he also suggests a model for growing one’s business.

The second book, Croissance et soutiens à la croissance d’entreprise, was co-ordinated by Professor Filion with the help of five co-authors: Mihai Ibanescu, Kaven Joyal, Pierre-André Julien, Ondel’ansek Kay and Sylvain Mélançon. Owners and managers of small and medium-sized businesses, established and aspiring entrepreneurs, consultants, entrepreneurship and management students, in fact anyone interested in business growth and how to support it, are sure to find in this thought-provoking collection a summary of current knowledge as well as many different perspectives on how to approach and sustain growth. This is the most complete study ever produced on the state of the science regarding business growth.

“Growth remains one of the subjects neglected by business leaders,” emphasizes Professor Filion. “Few entrepreneurs really include it in their business models when launching their firms, although it is vitally important. These books show the relevance of growth and provide tools for those interested in growing their businesses.”

A Full Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and holder of the Rogers—J.-A. Bombardier Chair of Entrepreneurship, Louis Jacques Filion (PhD in Systems and Entrepreneurship) has a varied background in entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and innovative management practices. He has received many distinctions, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Council of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Wilford White Fellowship from the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), the Julien-Marchesnay Award from the Association internationale de recherche en entrepreneuriat et PME (AIREPME), and the Entrepreneurship Promotion Emeritus Award from the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec. He has spoken on the topic of entrepreneurship on all five continents and authored or co-authored some one hundred publications, including some twenty books, and over 150 case studies.
