Six businesses honoured at the 2015 Médaillés de la relève awards

Six businesses were crowned at the Les Médaillés de la relève competition on June 9: Groupe Beaudoin Inc., JL Priest and Les Pavages Chenail Inc., in the Family Succession category, and CT Copieur, CVTech Inc. and Cofomo, in the Business Transfer category. The competition, launched by PwC in co-operation with the Institute for Entrepreneurship National Bank | HEC Montréal and their partners, is now in its ninth year. The goal is to salute Quebec businesses that successfully manage their succession processes and keep their companies thriving.

“Contributing to recognizing and rewarding the successes of our SMBs in Quebec is essential for our economy,” emphasized the Honorary Chair of the evening, Louis Vachon, President and CEO of the National Bank. “This year’s winners inspire us and serve as models to encourage other entrepreneurs to manage the transition effectively. I want to commend them all for their perseverance.”

Gold:

Groupe Beaudoin Inc.

Founded in 1976 by Yvon Beaudoin, Groupe Beaudoin Inc. works in the construction industry and handles complete installations of piping for plumbing, heating, cooling, natural gas and propane and industrial processes. After starting in the residential sector, the company extended its range of services to the commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.

JL Priest

 

JL Priest is a dynamic family business that has grown constantly since it was founded in 1964. It offers high-calibre personalized electrical and general contracting services. The company owes its success to the perseverance and determination of a father, Leonard Priest, and his son Richard, who share the same vision of professionalism and maintaining quality relationships between the company, its customers, suppliers and employees.

Les Pavages Chenail Inc.

Les Pavages Chenail inc. was founded in 1974. In the beginning, the company offered only specialized excavation and transportation services. Over the years, the firm grew and diversified considerably, and is now active in five different areas: asphalt, paving, general contracting, quarry management, and land development for real-estate projects. Its vision is to work together for a better future.

CT Copieur has been specializing in document management since 1987.  The company is known mainly as a leader in printer sales and after-sale service, and has become the leading Canon retailer in Canada. Its goal is to offer a centralized management service for businesses and their subsidiaries across Canada.

CVTech Inc.

CVTech Inc. was born in 2012 with the merger of three companies: CVTech-IBC, CVTech-AAB and CVTech R&D. It works in two main fields, i.e. the design and manufacture of continuously variable transmission systems, and engine overhaul services and the distribution of related parts for recreational vehicles. The company stands out mainly for its technical expertise and its focus on new product development.

Founded in 1995, Cofomo is a Montreal company specializing in consulting services and expertise management, specifically in the areas of business solutions and information technology. It has grown quickly over the past two decades, adapting to the evolving market and its clients’ changing business needs, to become the second-largest information technology firm in Quebec, and a prestigious and respected firm.
