Thomas Micheneau wins the Award for the best master’s thesis

April 24, 2014

The 2012-2013 Award for the best master’s thesis in the MSc in Administration program was awarded to Thomas Micheneau (BBA 2011, MSc 2012, Information Technologies specialization) at the program departments awards ceremony on April 16.

His paper, entitled “La distance relationnelle entre l'infirmier et le patient dans un contexte de télésurveillance à domicile”, impressed the jury. Only the top papers, i.e. those that had received a mark of A+, were evaluated.

The paper was co-directed by Guy Paré, Professor with the Department of Information Technologies, and Eric Brunelle, Associate Professor with the Department of Management. Both of them strongly supported Mr. Micheneau’s candidacy, emphasizing the excellent quality of his paper and its major contribution to theory.

In examining the impact of home telemonitoring on the relationship between nurses and their patients, Mr. Micheneau developed a conceptual framework representing all aspects and dimensions of the relational distance between them. His paper was also the first research to apply the concept of relational distance in the nursing context.

The jury also praised the significant scientific, social, economic and human benefits of his research.
