May 29, 2013

Sylvie St-Onge, Full Professor (Management), has received the prestigious Prix du ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche, de la Science et de la Technologie, in the university textbooks category. The award was presented at a ceremony at the Parliament buildings in Quebec City on May 24. Line Dubé, Full Professor (Information Technologies), earned an honourable mention in the same category.

These awards, from the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, recognize exceptional quality in French-language learning materials and the choice of an appropriate teaching strategy for books intended for college and undergraduate university students.

Entitled Gestion de la performance, the textbook written by Professor St-Onge is intended for students looking to become generalist managers or human resources management specialists. The author analyzes performance management from different theoretical perspectives and shows how managing employee performance can contribute to a company’s success.

“The textbook is excellent in terms of its pedagogical organization, rich content and effective learning activities,” according to the selection committee. “It is an original and avant-garde reference, with a focus on supporting learning, and one that the selection committee considers a model for the entire university community.”

Professor Dubé received an honourable mention in the same category for La gestion des technologies de l'information. Un guide pratique pour l'expert-comptable, co-written with Carmen Bernier of Université Laval. The authors present best practices in the main fields of information technology management, to prepare future accountants for their professional examination and train them to work effectively in a professional setting.
