2013 HEC Montréal-Quebec City relay raises over $50,000

June 4, 2013

On June 1 and 2, 60 members of the HEC Montréal community ran the 260 km between Quebec City and Montreal. This second edition of the HEC Montréal-Quebec City relay raised over $50,000 in donations, which will be used to offer more emergency assistance bursaries to allow young people in need to continue their university studies.

The 60 runners – professors and other faculty, employees, alumni and students – were divided into five teams and ran for 25 hours, day and night, much of it in the rain! But they had great support, as over 800 generous donors contributed through the yoyomolo.com online donation site. Donations are still welcome, in fact, and can be made through that site or the HEC Montréal Foundation page until June 30.

The HEC Montréal Foundation takes this opportunity to thank all the volunteers, philanthropic runners and donors. The relay was the brainchild of Pierre Saint-Laurent, Full-time Lecturer (Finance), in 2012. Last year, 12 runners raised upwards of $15,000.
