Research Grants: 30 New Projects Accepted

June 22, 2011

HEC Montréal professors have been very successful in obtaining grants to support their research activities from the major funding agencies, i.e. the SSHRC1, NSERC2, FQRSC3 and FQRNT4. All in all, 30 new individual research grants for which the lead researcher is from HEC Montréal were awarded recently, for a total of $2.3 million. They include eight grants to assistant professors under the FQRSC’s Établissement de nouveaux professeurs chercheurs program.

For Jean-Claude Cosset, Director of Research at HEC Montréal, “these grants to young researchers show the success of the School’s recruitment efforts in recent years and the quality of the next generation of professors at HEC Montréal.” At present, 22 research projects are being carried out by young researchers.

Overall, this year HEC Montréal professors posted a success rate of 48% for their grant applications to the SSHRC and 53% for those to the FQRSC. The total amount received exceeds $4 million, in fact, if joint research work by HEC Montréal faculty in collaboration with colleagues from other universities is taken into account.
