Subsidy from the CFI and the Quebec government to create the Tech3Lab laboratory

January 21, 2011

HEC Montréal is proud to announce that professors Pierre-Majorique Léger and Sylvain Sénécal have received a $609,572 grant to set up a one-of-a-kind laboratory in Canada, the Tech3Lab.

The Tech3Lab will allow advanced research into the decision-making processes of individuals and groups using information technologies. The laboratory will have neurophysiological and oculometric tools for studying collaboration and decision-making among users of business applications and decision making by Internet consumers. The Tech3Lab, to be housed at HEC Montréal itself, will comprise two rooms for experiments and two for observations.

This sizeable grant to professors Léger and Sénécal was made under the Leaders Opportunity Fund program (research infrastructure) of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). It consists of two equivalent contributions, by the CFI and the Quebec government.

Pierre-Majorique Léger, with the Department of Information Technologies, is Director of the ERPsim Laboratory, specializing in research and development into serious games used for training people in information technologies. Sylvain Sénécal, with the Department of Marketing, holds the RBC Financial Group Chair of E-Commerce.
