Earthquake in Haiti – HEC Montréal expresses its empathy

A Note from the Director

January 15, 2010

The Office of the Director, on behalf of the HEC Montréal community, would like to express its empathy and solidarity with the entire Haitian community affected by the strong earthquake that occurred last Tuesday.

Many of the School’s students, staff members and alumni are affected to various degrees by this tragedy. As a reminder, HEC Montréal currently has over 200 students from Haiti, as well as some ten staff and faculty members of Haitian origin.

According to the information available to us, no HEC student, staff or faculty member was in Haiti at the time of the tragedy.

Should some students need psychological support, I would like to remind you that this service is provided free of charge by Student Services.

Finally, on my behalf and on behalf of the School, I invite all of you who wish to do so to support the efforts of renowned organizations, such as the Red Cross and the Humanitarian Coalition, by making a donation online.

I sincerely hope that the HEC Montréal community will be very generous during this hardship affecting the Haitian community.

The Director,

Michel Patry
