Haithem Zourrig Wins a Dissertation Proposal Grant from the Association for Consumer Research and the Sheth Foundation

October 13, 2009

HEC Montréal doctoral student Haithem Zourrig has received the prestigious dissertation proposal grant from the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) and the Sheth Foundation. The award will be presented at a ceremony during the annual ACR conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 24. Professor Jean-Charles Chebat, holder of the Chair of Commercial Space and Customer Service Management at HEC Montréal, and UQAM Professor Roy Toffolli are the thesis co-directors.

Haithem’s research looks at the effects of culture and group membership on consumer revenge, forgiveness and avoidance behaviour with regard to a firm following a critical negative incident due to what is considered unacceptable service.

This is the third award won by Haithem Zourrig in two years. In 2008 and 2009 he won the Best Paper Award in the multicultural issues category from the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences, for two articles co-written with Jean-Charles Chebat and Roy Toffolli.
