The HEC Montréal Team Wins the Défi Marketing TD Assurance 2009

May 22, 2009

A team of final-year BBA students in Marketing has won the Défi Marketing TD Assurance 2009, an interuniversity competition organized by the Association des Professionnels de la Communication et du Marketing (APCM). The winners were announced at the annual APCM gala, on May 14.

The competition is a great opportunity for contestants to apply the concepts they have learned in the classroom, by carrying out a mandate for a non-profit organization. It also gives participants valuable visibility in the professional community.

This year, their assignment was to put together a marketing plan for RÉSEAU environnement, the largest environmental industry umbrella group in Quebec. The challenge was to create a three-year marketing strategy to give RÉSEAU environnement greater visibility among its clientele and partners, improve its services and member satisfaction, and boost its sponsorship results by 25%. The students had to come up with a marketing plan with an annual budget of $60,000.

This is the fifth time HEC Montréal students have won at this competition, created in 2000 by the Association marketing de Montréal.

Other participating universities this year were:

• Université Laval;
• Université de Sherbrooke;
• John Molson School of Business, Concordia University;
• École des sciences de la gestion, UQAM.
