HEC Montréal Researchers Receive Remarkable Funding from Granting Agencies

HEC Montréal professors have been remarkably successful in obtaining grants to support their research activities from the four major funding agencies, the SSHRC,1 NSERC,2 FQRSC,3 and FQRNT.4
All in all, 23 new research projects won grants in the fall 2007 competition, for an overall success rate of 38%, as compared with 31% the previous year. This represents a total of $1.83 million in research grants.
In addition, under the FQRSC strategic grouping program, three inter-university research centres including many HEC professors received total funding of $4,486,956 for the 2008-2014 period. They are:
- the Inter-university research centre on quantitative economics (CIREQ) ($1,414,956);
- the Inter-university centre on risk, economic policy and employment (CIRPÉE) ($1,536,000); and
- the Centre for research on social innovations (CRISES) ($1,536,000).
Lastly, the Inter-university research centre on globalization and work (CRIMT) received a $2.5 million grant under the SSHRC’s Major Collaborative Research Initiatives program.
