Workshops

+  Compulsory Workshop HEC Montréal

Note: This workshop is part of the compulsory orientation day for your study program.

Taking your first class at a Quebec university? How is work organized? Where should I buy my books? What kinds of exams will I take? How does the grading system work? What are the professors' expectations? What are appropriate behaviours that will help me succeed in my studies in Quebec?

To understand the HEC philosophy and the challenges waiting for you in the classroom, every student must attend the workshop regarding their program.

+  Étudiants étrangers, partez du bon pied!

CSC-BAEI-SAE-OPUS-STM-CEPSUM-BIXI-CLSC-RAMQ-CIC-BMO-BELL-FIDO

Do these acronyms and words mean anything to you? They'll be essential during your stay in Quebec! This workshop - "International students, start off on the right foot!" - will give you all the tools necessary to settle into Quebec properly.

Come one, come all!

+  Housing Workshop "Je trouve un logement"

Are you looking for advice on the house-hunt in Montreal? Come to our housing workshop! What are the advantages of sharing an apartment? What's the "half" in "3 and ½"? What budget should I plan on having to live in an apartment? What should I look out for during visits? What neighbourhoods are fun to live in? In addition to asking all these questions, you'll also learn about your rights and obligations, as well as those of your future landlord.

Come one, come all!

+  Looking for a flatmate : Meet and Greet

(French version: "Je recherche un colocataire")
Are you alone in Montreal? Would you like to find a flatmate? Come to our meet and greet to find the ideal one! This is a good way to meet HEC Montréal students and ease your integration. Please note that this workshop does not cover the same information as the housing workshop.
Good luck!

("In Quebec, we stay up late on the balcony in the summertime, and in the winter we bundle ourselves up; we take off our shoes when we come indoors, and we walk around with socks on; we bring our own beers when we eat supper at other people's houses, and we split the bill at restaurants.") Come discuss Quebec culture with us (yes, there is a Quebec culture!) at this interactive workshop, "Pas de chicane dans ma cabane". You'll discover Quebec's language, Quebeckers' customs and ways, their soft spots... Above all, you'll learn little tricks to help you avoid misunderstandings with your future colleagues and to help prepare you for your integration in this amazing country, uh province... Well, you'll see!
