Additionnal information

The gift of a life insurance policy is a simple, flexible way to donate to the Foundation in line with your family situation and financial status.

If you wish to benefit from the corresponding tax credits within your lifetime, you can transfer ownership of an existing or new policy to the HEC Montréal Foundation.

However, if it is likely that your estate will have a heavy tax burden to bear upon your death, it may be beneficial to defer your tax savings by designating the HEC Montréal Foundation as your sole or joint beneficiary, without giving up ownership of your policy.

You can designate the Foundation as a beneficiary directly in your life insurance policy or specify that this is the case in your will.

In both cases, the Foundation will receive the death benefit from the policy upon your death, and a receipt for this amount will be forwarded to your estate.

Did you know?

You can also designate the Foundation as a secondary or tertiary beneficiary of a life insurance policy. This will protect the death benefit in the event the primary beneficiary passes away before the policyholder.

Please consult your financial or legal advisor to ensure that the selected donation option takes into account your specific circumstances as well as all applicable legal and tax implications.
