Dashboards are a powerful tool, whether you’re behind the wheel of your car, steering a boat or flying a plane. The information a vehicle dashboard provides is essential to making sure a trip goes according to plan. The same can be said about an executive dashboard. Regardless of size, every organization needs one to keep tabs on its financial performance, the status of its customer relationships, the efficiency of its internal processes and its ability to adapt to its environment.

This course will show you how to develop an executive dashboard tailored to your organization’s specific needs.

GOALS

This two-day program will help you strategically reflect on how to develop an executive dashboard for your organization:

  • On the first day, you will gain a better understanding of the link between strategy, performance management and the budget process for a behind-the-scenes look at organizational performance models.
  • On the second day, you will turn your strategic thinking toward developing an executive dashboard and experiment with some organizational performance model design techniques.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

This is for anyone wishing to develop an executive dashboard for their organization or division using a proven method supported by an advanced template. Be prepared to invest time to reflect on your dashboard’s structure and collect the necessary data from your organization. You will leave with a working version that you can then continue to refine in the months and years ahead.

SPECIAL FEATURES

This program combines pedagogical and technical aspects to develop your customized executive dashboard. At the end of the training, you will leave with a copy of the application for use within your organization. This application identifies more than 20 distinct objectives and offers five dashboard presentation formats to track organizational performance over a five-year period.

The seminar comprises:

  • One day of training on dashboard development
  • One week of preparation to collect the information necessary to prepare your customized dashboard
  • A workshop on the strategic thinking required to develop a complete preliminary version of your executive dashboard

You will need the following:

  • List of preliminary exercises to do before the first class
  • Participant's workbook with course notes and dashboard examples
  • Sample dashboard in Excel
  • Dashboard template in Excel that allows projections over five years

TRAINING APPROACH

You will build your personalized executive dashboard from a computerized template based on Kaplan’s balanced scorecard model. After briefly illustrating a few key concepts, the instructor will assist you in designing your dashboard.
