Government programs to help employers hire interns

Government programs to help employers hire interns are generally available. Companies are responsible for verifying their eligibility to these programs directly with the agencies concerned prior to hiring an intern. The following programs are currently being offered:

Internships

The Revenue Québec Taxation Tax Credit

  • Tax credit granted to companies and individuals who wish to hire students; 
  • The tax credit for companies covers 30% of eligible expenditures up to $500 per week; 
  • Reserved for employment within a credited internship.

MITACS ACCELERATE
  • MITACS ACCELERATE is a national internship program managed by MITACS Inc which connects companies and other organizations with the vast research expertise in Canada’s universities. MITACS brings over ten years of experience in successfully engaging the public, private and academic communities in joint research collaboration.

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)

  • Canada Summer Jobs is a new initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. It provides wage subsidies to help Canadian employers of not-for-profit, public sector, and smaller private sector organizations with 50 or fewer employees create career-related summer jobs for students between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment.
