Psychological Support

Psychologists from our Psychological Support Service provide psychological assessments, referrals and (whenever possible) short-term consultations for HEC Montréal students. At your first meeting, the psychologist will evaluate your needs and expectations. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have. The psychologist may then offer to make a second appointment, direct you to other internal resources at HEC, or refer you to an appropriate external resource.

Please note that the objective of the psychological assessments we offer is not to provide exemptions from attending classes or taking an examination. If that is what you need, we suggest that you see your family doctor or a doctor at an emergency clinic.

It generally takes anywhere from a few days to three weeks to get your first appointment. If you need help urgently, please tell us when you place your request.

Examples of reasons for consultation

  • Anxiety problems, stress management
  • Grief, depression, motivational issues
  • Challenges in interpersonal relationships
  • Problems related to your studies
  • Crisis situations, personal or family
  • Sexual difficulties, love life issues
  • Eating disorders, substance abuse
  • Social integration, housing or roommate related problems
  • Existential issues
  • Any other topic or situation that can't be solved on your own
