Why Get Involved?

Get involved in student life!

Any way you look at it, it’s an enriching experience that will enable you to:

Develop an active social life
Gain experience
Improve your skills
Put into practice the theory you’ve learned in class
Widen your network of personal contacts
Start building your professional life

HEC Montréal students have an opportunity to play an active role in associations related directly to their field of studies and enrich their learning experience along the way. Whether it’s through competitions like the Meloche Monnex Marketing Challenge or the Financial Open, publishing student newspapers or organizing welcome week activities for international students, HEC Montréal’s associations and interest groups offer a wide variety of important activities. They encourage students to set their sights ever higher, and promote initiative, socialization and a sense of belonging within the HEC Montréal community.

Feel free to get involved. Go to the office of the organization that interests you and chat with its members; they’ll tell you how you can join.

  1. Offer to volunteer for an activity or an event organized by a student association or committee that interests you.  By doing so, you will be able to get a general idea of how things work, understand it's mission and the role each member plays in it.
  2. Keep an eye out for recruitment emails sent by the School's associations and committees.  Most start to recruit around March for positions for the following school year. Others post position openings in September and all throughout the school year.  In most cases, you will be asked to send your Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter, followed by an interview.
  3. Once you're in, try to get involved as much as you can by diversifying your responsibilities: this will enrich your experience as a manager!
  4. Participate in the Prix Reconnaissance in order to get rewarded for your achievements.
