Registration period

1. Registration periods are listed in the academic calendar.

2. A few days before a period begins, check HEC en ligne for the date and the time at which the system will allow you to register.

3. Under Registration dates, click My registration period.

Conditional Admission

You must meet all stated conditions prior to the registration period for the term following your admission to the program; otherwise you will be denied access to HEC en ligne.

You are responsible for managing your program of study. You will receive your diploma only if you have met all of your program’s requirements, including the number of compulsory and elective course credits.

To view your class and exam schedule, your student record or the deadline for completing your studies, go to HEC en ligne

Note that your exams may not necessarily take place on the same day as your regularly scheduled classes.

Choose your courses for the next term only:

  • Not all courses are offered every term.
  • Every year in early June, HEC Montréal publishes the course schedules for the next three terms. When choosing your courses, take into account the courses available in those three terms.
  • For a description of a given course, go to Zone cours.
Change fee may apply for section change or course cancellation. For more information, see your HEC en ligne during the registration period.

Changing stream or specialization

Barring exceptional circumstances, students may change streams or specializations only once in their program. To request this change, they must have already completed 12 course credits.

If the change is accepted, it will take effect in the term following the request.

Correcting your personal information

If your contact information (mailing address, e-mail address or phone number) has changed since you were admitted to HEC Montréal, it is important to update it promptly.  Make any necessary changes online through HEC en ligne.

+  Name change

Since the Fall 2000 semester, the ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur (MEES) has obliged Quebec universities to obtain a permanent code assigned and validated by the Ministry for each registered student.

The “permanent code” is a code that the province’s ministry of education, the MEES, uses to identify individual students. It consists of four letters followed by eight digits.
e.g. AAAZ11223344
AAA = First 3 letters of the student’s family name
Z = First letter of the student’s given name
11 = Date of birth
22 = Birth month (plus 50 if the student is female)
33 = Last 2 digits of the year of birth
44 = Sequence number assigned by the MEES

If the name appearing in the MEES file differs from the one on record at HEC Montréal, we are required to modify it to bring it in line with the data held by the MEES.

If, while consulting your record on HEC en ligne, you notice that your name has been changed and that you wish to modify it, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • a birth certificate (for students from Quebec or any other Canadian province)
  • a document attesting to your status in Canada (international students)

Failing this, your name will remain as it is currently in HEC en ligne.
