What is a Campus Abroad?

The Campus Abroad offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an international business environment for two weeks and to experience the cultural, political, social and economic realities of another country, under the guidance of a network of experienced faculty members. 

The Campus Abroad program is an intensive three-credit course that includes pre-departure training, stay abroad experience and integration of the acquired knowledge upon returning. The stay abroad is the highlight of the program, providing exposure to business culture through meetings with foreign senior executives, government officials and government agencies, academic conferences and practical activities aimed at integrating the knowledge acquired by the students.

**Program fees are provided for information purposes only and are based on a group of 15 participants. Rates include accommodations, chartered transportation, partnership fees, cultural activities and some meals.

***If he/she accepts the Campus Abroad offer, the student must pay a participation fee of $ 210 (plus yearly cost of living adjustment) via HEC en ligne. This fee helps cover the administrative costs of the program.  

+  Application procedure

  • Have a minimum average grade of 2,3
  • Submit a complete application file:
    • A completed application form 
    • A current resume
    • For non-Canadians, a copy of their valid immigration document (permanent residency card, study permit, etc.)
    • A motivation letter for the scholarship
    • A letter of interest ( maximum 500 words) demonstrating the following:
      • A keen interest in international business
      • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership qualities
      • Evidence of social and emotional maturity to adjust to a foreign environment
  • Send your documents to or drop them off at room 3.278 at the CSC building by June 12, 2017.

+  Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I buy my own plane ticket?

    The purchase of the plane ticket is the responsibility of the student participating in the Campus Abroad program. The selected itinerary must ensure that the student is present at the beginning of the course in the city indicated by the professor and that he/she remains with the group until the end of the program.

  2. Am I responsible for obtaining the visa?

    The Campus Without Borders team will oversee the process of obtaining visas for the whole group, when necessary for Canadian citizens. Individual foreign students requiring a visa to attend a Campus Abroad destination can contact the Campus Without Borders team to obtain the necessary documents.

  3. Are there any special considerations regarding vaccines?

    All participants will receive a guide specific to each destination that provides all pre-departure information (vaccinations, insurance, useful information about the country, etc.).

  4. Why is there a $210 participation fee?

    The participation fee is only charged to  students who confirm their participation in the program, following the offer made by the Campus' selection committee. This fee helps to cover some of the administrative costs of the program.

  5. Are the tuition fees (3 credits) included in the program fees?

    No. You must pay your tuition fees to the Registrar separately.

  6. Are we required to write a report at the end of the Campus Abroad program?

    Evaluations are different from one Campus Abroad destination to the other and are determined by the professor in charge.

  7. Is there a selection interview?

    No. Participants are selected based on their application documents. 

  8. How does this course fit into my curriculum?

    This is a specialization complementary course.  For students in the International Business specialization or mixed option, the Campus Abroad program is recognized as a specialization course. For other specializations or mixed options, it is a non-specializationcomplementary course.

  9. What happens if I cannot take part in the Campus Abroad program, after having confirmed my participation and made the deposit?

    A student who cannot participate after confirmation loses all his/her payments and, if applicable, must repay the Global Citizen Scholarship.
