Procedures
STEP 1 - Reply to our admission offer
Upon receipt of your admission offer, you have 30 days to send us your answer via HEC en ligne. Remember to write your student number, first and last name and date of birth on the back of your check or bank draft. Note that places are limited and reservations are not guaranteed if confirmation is received after the deadline.
If you wish to defer admission to the following year, you must refuse the admission offer via HEC en ligne and indicate the reason “Deferred admission”. Your application and supporting documents are kept for one calendar year and your file will be re-analysed and compared to the files received that year. |

|

STEP 5 - Register for preparatory courses, workshops and compulsory courses
Registration Registration for the Fall semester will be available as of July 5 at 9 am. For information on how to register on-line, please refer to the guide How to register via HEC en ligne.
Preparatory courses Many courses in the MBA program require an adequate training in mathematics. We strongly recommend you read the course descriptions, do the self-evaluation tests and enrol in as many courses as you need in order to excel in your core courses.Over the years, we have noticed that many students mistakenly believe they have adequate training in these subjects and do not take preparatory courses to upgrade their skills. Unfortunately a number of students do have difficulties in certain courses (especially in finance and economics) and, in some cases, students avoid taking certain elective courses because they are not adequately prepared for them. The preparatory courses are taken on a voluntary basis and the accompanying credits do not contribute to the student's grade point average for the program. Preparatory courses - schedule
Note: Make sure you have a laptop before the beginning of the preparatory courses.
Tuition fees The preparatory courses are one-credit courses. Please refer to the table of tuition fees to know what the fees are for one-credit courses.
Workshops HEC Montréal offers you several workshops free of charge starting mid-August. We strongly recommend you enroll in as many as you wish.

This information session is for the students in the intensive program only. Attendance is mandatory.
|
STEP 8 - Begin the program with the intensive week |
The preparatory session
Why does class extend up to 10:30 p.m.? The three-hour class is followed by team discussions that often extend into the evening because important decisions must be made and consensus among the team members must be reached before you leave class. Consequently, it is impossible to predict when you will end the day.
The class schedule The schedule for each day will be available on HEC en ligne as of July 5 at 9 am.
Teaching materials used During this intensive week, you will be using the Globstrat manual. The manual will be sent to you by e-mail one week before the beginning of classes. Students pay a $50 simulation fee for the manual at the COOP HEC Montréal at the first class.
Attendance is compulsory for the intensive week This course is compulsory. If you are unable to attend class, you will not be authorized to continue in the program. You will be asked to postpone admission until the following year. It is important to note that the deferral is not automatically granted.
|
STEP 9 - Get your student ID card |
All students registered at HEC must have an HEC student card, even if they are enrolled in a single course or for a single term. The card is required for exams, borrowing books from the library, accessing computer laboratories, taking part in any other activity organized by HEC, for identification purposes, and for entering HEC premises outside regular hours. Students must have their card at all times in order to be able to show it on request. The student card remains the property of HEC Montréal and must be returned to the institution on request.
|
STEP 10 - Attend classes and examinations |
Classes Students are presumed to attend classes. The professor may deny access to class if the student does not attend the first class. The Director of the Program may deny student access to a class if the student missed two or more classes.
Examinations Students must attend examinations. Students who do not attend an examination must have a valid reason and must, within five days following the date of the examination, justify their absence. Valid reasons refer to a reason independent of the student's will, such as an act of God or and illness substantiated by a medical certificate. A student who misses an exam must complete the form entitled Notice of absence from an examination. Please refer to the university calendar to see the examination dates. |
