Campus Abroad program for MBA students

An International Business Immersion Program

This year, three Campus Abroad activities organized by the Department of International Business are open to students in the MBA. Program. The program lets students immerse themselves for two weeks in an international business environment and experience the cultural, political, social and economic realities of another country, under the guidance of a network of skilled faculty.

Campus Abroad is a three-credit activity providing exposure to business culture through meetings with foreign business and government officials. Students will witness how the knowledge they acquired at HEC Montréal receives practical application.

Above all, Campus Abroad is memorable life experience!

"The campus definitely impacted my life forever! It was a harmonious blend of experiences—life in the Vietnamese culture, visits to local and international businesses, and, best of all, wonderful new people who supported me throughout the entire adventure.".
– Saad Guessous, Campus Vietnam 2011

"This has been an amazing two weeks and I would not have changed a thing about it. ".
– Lori Weiss, Campus Russia 2012

"It is amazing how much we can learn in such a short timeframe when the organisation is good. Being in a country brings huge benefits compared to just sitting in a class: you can directly feel the culture and make links between the different aspects of life and business"
– Bertrand Fouss, Campus Russia 2012

How a Campus Abroad unfolds

  1. Pre-departure training in Montreal

The pre-departure training allows you to become aware of the realities of the country that will be visited, as well as learn about the companies that will be visited during the Campus.

  2. Stay abroad

Over a period of about two weeks, the stay abroad is the highlight of your Campus Abroad. Each program is unique and consists of a combination of the following: company visits, government agencies and NGOs, seminars with local speakers, group projects, cultural visits and meetings with students.

  3. Integration of acquired knowledge

The Campus Abroad concludes with an assessment of the acquired knowledge, putting in context the experiences of the course. Upon returning to Montreal, students must submit their final project to the teacher.
