It has been reported to us that someone has posted some job offers on the Career Management Services website and sent some of the students who applied for these positions a document where their Social Insurance Number was requested. This person pretended to be a representative of a well-known and respected company, but that was not the case. This misrepresentation is taken very seriously by the School and by the company itself.
We cannot stress enough that protecting your personal information is critical.
Your Social Insurance Number should never be provided during the hiring process until the position has been offered and accepted. You must also trust the identity of the person requesting this information.
For further information on how to protect your Social Insurance Number, please go to: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/about/publication/psin_pnas-eng.shtml
Thank you.
