Placement test for the course Differential Calculus with Applications in Management (10-600-11A)

Placement test is a mandatory test that all students admitted to the preparatory year have to do. This test evaluates your skills needed for course 10-600-11A Differential Calculus with applications in management.

The test will cover the following concepts:

• Domain and Image of function
• Limits : indeterminate forms
• Continuity on an interval, continuity at a point
• Derivative computation: first and second derivatives, derivative of a composites functions, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. (Basic derivatives formulas will be attached to your examination. This formularium will be sent by email for information before the test)
• Function analysis: increasing and decreasing function, inflection point, maximum and minimum of a function, concavity of a function, basic graphing procedure using the first derivative of f(x), link between f(x) and f’(x), horizontal, vertical and oblique asymptotes.

The test duration is 3 hours and includes multiple choice questions. No justification is required.

The use of calculators is prohibited during the exam.

The examination rooms will be indicated in your HEC en ligne as of the middle of august.

The test will take place Tuesday, August 21^st from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If you pass this test with a score above 75%, an exemption from this course will be obtained. In this case, you will be unsubscribed from the course 10-600-11A Differential Calculus with applications in Management. The course will be replaced by a language course.
